Has Eric Holder ever met a terrorist he didn’t like? He has a penchant for setting them free. As we told you about here, Holder has followed CAIR’s orders and dropped charges against bin Laden’s brother-in-law.

SANTA ANA, Calif., Oct. 7 (UPI) — Charges have been dropped against an Afghan man in California whose lawyer says he was targeted by the FBI because he refused to become a government informant.

Criminal charges against Ahmadullah Sais Niazi were dropped and he has been released from custody. His public defender, Chase Skolnick, and leaders of the Southern California Muslim community have asked the U.S. Justice Department to investigate the FBI’s handling of the three-year investigation, The Orange County Register reports.

After Niazi’s arrest in February 2009, federal prosecutors said he had family ties to Osama bin Laden. They said he failed to disclose when he applied to enter the United States and to become a citizen that his brother-in-law was the al-Qaida leader’s security coordinator.

From a previous post,CAIR asks AG Holder to investigate arrest of brother-in-law of bin Laden security coord:

In June 2007, Niazi and another man reported the man to the FBI, Ropel said, but “Mr. Niazi lied to us.”

Niazi told the agents that jihad — extremist Muslims’ term for holy war — was talked about one or two times when the recordings showed it was discussed on 15-20 occasions, Ropel said.

According to an affidavit filed in support of a search warrant, Niazi, who was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, failed to reveal that his sister is married to Amin al-Haq, who has allegedly served as a bodyguard for bin Laden.

Niazi became a naturalized citizen on Nov. 5, 2004, when he legally changed his name from Ahmadullah Sais to Ahmadullah Sais Niazi. Among the allegations in the indictment is that he failed to reveal he previously had used the name Ahmadullah Khan
