Poll: Strong Support for NYPD’s Counter-Terrorism Efforts

Poll: Strong Support for NYPD’s Counter-Terrorism Efforts

Anyone surprised by this? An overwhelming majority of New Yorker’s don’t want the Ground Zero mega victory mosque either. Just like an overwhelming majority of Oklahoman’s don’t want sharia law to have the light of day in their state. Americans can save this country, it’s politicians, the so-called “leaders” who are destroying it. The media is complicit. They don’t speak for the people – they speak for the multinational elitists and those they can easily manipulate. via Poll: Strong Support for NYPD’s Muslim Efforts – Metropolis – WSJ.
A majority of city voters believe the New York Police Department has acted appropriately in anti-terrorism efforts that have focused on Muslims, according to a new poll.
The survey from the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute released Tuesday found that 58% of voters believe the NYPD has dealt with Muslims appropriately, while 29% believe police unfairly targeted the community. Voters approve by a 63% to 31% margin the way the police are doing their job, the poll showed.
Voters’ strong support for police comes in the wake of a series of stories by the Associated Press outlining the NYPD’s monitoring of Muslim groups in the city and elsewhere. Mayor Michael Bloomberg and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly have defended the department’s practices as legal and appropriate, while civil rights groups and other leaders — including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Newark Mayor Cory Booker — have voiced concerns.
“New Yorkers brush aside the gripes about police surveillance of the Muslim community,” said Maurice Carroll, director of the polling institute. “Voter approval of the way police are handling terrorism is through the roof, and overall approval for police in general and for Commissioner Ray Kelly is undented by criticism.”
Kelly maintains a high approval rating of 64% and wields no small amount of electoral clout in the 2013 mayoral race. The poll found 28% of voters would be more likely to support a mayoral candidate who vowed to keep Kelly as commissioner, compared to 19% who would be less likely.
