Heritage's Carafano: N. Korea Attack Reflects Obama Ineptitude
Tuesday, 23 Nov 2010 12:26 PM
North Korea’s deadly attack on a South Korean island illustrates the impotence of President Barack Obama’s foreign policy, says James Carafano, assistant director of The Heritage Foundation’s Institute for International Studies. “Another reminder of the White House's misplaced priorities,” Carafano writes on Politico.
“While Obama spends every waking second using every Chicago-style tactic he can think of to press for ratification of the new START nuclear deal with Russia, North Korea runs amok.”
Carafano is not too impressed with the 2010 version of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty between the United States and Russia, either.
“New START offers the U.S. no advantages and has many flaws,” he writes. “Countries like North Korea and Iran are the clear and present danger. The White House opted for what it thought was the ‘easy’ reset button with Russia rather than tackle the barbarians at the gate.”
